A lawyer has offered to take on a case for me, involving a dispute over a will and other family law stuff. What kind of cut will he expect if we win?

I live in San Francisco California. I am fighting the contested guardianship of my mother who lives in a nursing home in western Massachusetts. I have virually no money but I need to find an attorney who practices family law in Massachusetts. If s/he wins the case they could be paid out of the estate in contest.
I need a lawyer who is skilled in liable, slander and defimation law. This attorney needs to be licensed to work in South Carolina. Where can I go to find one?
This guy is free and still doing business without caring that he did about 30 families injustice and left some of them penniless to the point that these families can not afford the legal fees to persue a law suit.
I heard that if you do like 5-10 hours of public service work you can have your law loans reduced.
A good friend of mine has gotten into trouble with the law. She’s a good person, just made some bad decisions with the wrong people. She is facing criminal charges, and needs a lawyer, but is not in a financial position to pay for one outright. I know that some lawyers take on isolated cases pro-bono; how would she go about locating those kind of lawyers? Any websites, resources, physical locations, etc. would be helpful. She lives in Atlanta, GA.

There are a few ladies who have acquired not only the occupation of a burlesques nature but also have attention the attention of the law. For petty crimes courts tend to appoint community service to pay back one debt to society. A stripper could easily pay back her debt in one night of pro bono work and society might note her duties pay more so than if she picked up some trash on the side of the road.
Is a law student allowed to represent someone pro bono in a civil action in New York [any county] Supreme Court if that person cannot afford an attorney?
How do you go about getting a lawyer / law school interested in a Pro Bono case?
